Proceeding with Ease at a Car Auction
Car auctions have a variety of cars listed with it and can range from a totally useless car to an excellent quality car that carries certification from the dealer offering it. But, the point with car auctions is not about the type of car you can procure but the cost factor that is involved in doing so.
If you are first time visitor to a car auction, the experience might leave you confounded and totally confused with the frenzied pace with which the auction process occurs. But, you will soon find out that every car auction functions identically to the other and gradually you will be able to comprehend what is happening around you and get more comfortable in visiting and even bidding at a car auction.
When you visit a car auction, you will first have to pay a deposit to be able to bid at it and you will be given a number to use while bidding. You will have the freedom to go and see the cars that are available for purchase. In the parking lot, you will have all sorts of cars, ranging from non-running that will be marked with a tag like “NR” or something like that and these cars will be grouped and parked away from the cars that are running.
Cars that are running will be the majority of cars at the auction and will be parked together for viewing. You will have the liberty to open and see the interiors of the cars, sit in it, check the odometer and anything else that spikes your curiosity to know about the car in detail. But, you do not have the liberty to take the car for a spin or get the engine going.
When the auction begins, the auctioneer will be responsible for handling the proceedings and will ask whether anyone is interested in buying the cars that are not in running condition. Once that process is completed, the auction usually proceeds over to the inside of the building where the running cars are parked and these are brought out one by one as they come up for bidding.
It is essential to catch hold of a good spot so that you will be able to observe all the proceedings of the auction that is happening there. There will be much jostling to get hold of a good spot and you might get pushed around a bit. Do not let such things hassle you and do not cross over the designated viewing spots as these lines are there to ensure your safety.
While bidding for the car that you have in your mind, do not bid right away.
Be patient and wait for the right opportunity before making your move. The auctioneer will begin the bidding at some price and start bringing it down gradually till he reaches a price that is considered to be a minimum. If there are no takers till that price, the car will not be sold. You can observe for a pattern in determining the price that will be the lowest.
